I have heard that lot of fund is being collected through this event, would an external audit be done on the amount collected or would the accounts be send the CEC alumni groups, I do wish to donate some amount but I should recieve proof that the amount will be used for the benefit of my college.

    • Ajith Sen

      Dear arjun
The programme is organised jointly by staff, students, alumni and parents. We formed an organiasational body of all this.So far we reached to all major IT cities for announcing this mega event and to invite all the Alumnis. So far amount collected is lass than one lakh. This amount is deposited in a seperate joint account jointly operated by a staff and a parent (executive members of PTA.)This will be audited by a chartered accountant externaly and will publish soon after the event. We are very much encouraged by the positive response shown by the CEC alumnis and hope the Aug 6 global meet will be great success.
      Ajith Sen

  • Dear Arjun A,

Definitely, you can believe the organizers. The audit process will be definitely done, and the proof of reciepts and expenditure will be published within one month of the event. The surplus amount will also be indicated and the plan of action with that money will also be framed then. Ajith Sen Sir (currently PTA Secretary – PTA is the core organizer of this event alongwith the students of CEC) has assured to do that publicly.

Hope it’s clear from my part.

    CEC 2010 CS.

  • Arun

Is there already a website for the event? If so why dont you put up the total collections so far with the names of each and everyone contributed, so that it will be transparent and clear to everyone? It’ll be great if it can be updated daily.

    • Ajith Sen

      Dear Arun,
We are thinking of hosting a website for the event and also nothing wrong in puting the details .We will think about this.
      Ajith Sen

  • Hi Arun,

Well, I am not sure whether the daily-update thing is practically possible. However, I shall forward this suggestion to the organizers of the event. At least, a periodic update can be looked forward to.

Regarding the website, a page is under construction and is expected to be available at: http://globalmeet2011.ceconline.edu soon

    Regards,

    Arunanand T A,
    CEC 2010 CS.

  • Bobby

What is the specific intend of the fund raising and what is the targeted amount?

    • Ajith Sen

      dear bobby,
The main target is not the fund. Prime importance is the Alumni get together and to make this day special we are organising the show. The total experditure for the show comes arount six lakhs. We staff contributed 2.5 lakhs and we expect some sponsorship also. If surplus amount comes this will be utilised for the development activities monitered by PTA apex body.
      Ajith Sen

  • Ansari

    Dear Ajith Sen Sir,

Great initiative. Reminds me of our I Shall days. Unforrtunatley I shall not be able to make it. Would have really liked to be part of the event. Wishing you and the team very best. Prayers and moral support with all of you. Have a great meet

    Regards
    Ansari
    CEC 98

  • Arjun A

    Dear organiser,

Please complete the website and publish the details of the amount collected so far. Most of us have a small reluctances in donating due to the lack of transparency. Please do the necessary as per the suggestions of Arun, and I can personally assure more donations from our side.

    Sorry for making such demands.

  • RIchie

    hey arjun chettan…

the details shall be mailed too any one of you on demand. Jus let us know your email ID, jus send it to richie.oommen@gmail.com or senajith99@yahoo.com.

the entire process shall be made very transparent; but we cant jus let it out so openly in the internet; jus drop in a mail..and u’ll have your reply!

  • Shanim

    A couple of questions:

    – Why is it that the “unofficial” website of the college has more information of this event in comparison with the “official” website?

    – Is there an official announcement for the same on the CEC website?

    – What is the purpose of the funds? There doesn’t seem to be any real statement here besides “blessing the event” and “College Development Activities”. Could you have a more specific explanation of the same?

    – Is the Alumni Fund Tax Deductible in India/US (under IRS 501 (c)(3))? I’m sure there would be more who would be willing to contribute if this was the case.

  • Arun

Dear Richy, It’s not right to hold off the information unless some one asks for it. Anyway, please send whatever you can to arunalways81@gmail.com.

I know CEC very well and not everyone can be trusted blindly, so I’d really appreciate if you could publish a document signed by the current principal accepting this program as an official college program. It’d really add value to your requests for money. Richy, Assuming that you are a student of CEC, I am pretty sure that you know how funds are managed at CEC. It is the reason why I am so adamant in seeing the transparency in the whole process. I don’t want to see the funds going in to someone’s pockets.

And one more point, as this program is conducted for a noble cause, I dont think why you should not publish the complete details on the website. If a donor wants to remain anonymous, you could specify that against the particular field in the income.

Or better, send the complete details to alumni email groups. I see no reason why you cannot.

  • @Shanim, @Arun,

Richie and I are now alumni of CEC, the former belonging to 2011 batch and the latter 2010 batch. 🙂

Well, I am told now that the website is almost ready and have been up for an alpha and a beta check for internal comments. The official website of the event shall be up, I am told, with in a few days itself at the URL mentioned in the post itself.

    Arunanand T A,
    CEC 2010 CS.
