Report of Seminar on “Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and Silicon Nano Crystal Devices”

The seminar was based on Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and Silicon Nano Crystal Devices. The seminar was conducted by Mr Githin F Alapatt, graduate research student of Clemson University and College of Engineering Chengannur Alumnus. The seminar was taken by Mr. Githin F Alapatt with the aim of motivating the students to take up research and go for higher education. The other member on the dice was Prof.(Dr.)V.P Devassia, Principal, College of Engineering Chengannur and a total of 72 students attended the seminar.

The seminar started at 4:15 with the welcome speech by Mr. Rahul Raj, Chairman IEEE CEC. The presidential address was delivered by Prof.(Dr.)V.P Devassia, Principal, College of Engineering Chengannur. This was followed by the seminar by Mr Githin F Alapatt. The seminar covered basic electronic concepts and his research topics, which are “Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and Silicon Nano Crystal Devices”. He gave a brief idea about new technologies in research. During the presentation he talked about the various possibilities of research and how his research had helped him. He talked about the research facilities available in India and those abroad. The talk presentation was over by 5:00 pm. The seminar was followed by an interactive doubt clearing session were doubts about Silicon Nano Crystals and about the possibilities of doing research abroad was discussed. At 5:30 the doubt clearing session concluded and a Gift, as a token of our appreciation was awarded to Mr. Githin F Alapatt.

After the event few students stayed back and talked with Mr. Githin F Alapatt about research and higher education. The theme of the seminar and the idea of doing research attracted many first years to the event and they have also shown there willingness to join IEEE.
