In response to the request from CEC Senate 2009-10, PRODDEC has submitted their Annual Work Report in time, and they are the first student body to respond to the aforesaid. Besides, they’ve done it marvelously, and I strongly believe that it shall be, of course, an inspiration for forthcoming years to go on with their works in a far better manner. I, on behalf of Senate, would like to thank and appreciate the team!

PRODDEC Annual Report 2008-09

(In Brief)

PRODDEC, born in 1995, has since proved to serve as a common platform for product development, creating thoughts and logical reasoning of both electronics and computer science students. PRODDEC has completed another year of activities.

Under the guidance of Ms Deepa  J, Staff coordinator of PRODDEC, the activities of this year were inaugurated by the adoption of the PRODDEC charter and the executive handing over. An executive council was formulated extracting the young dynamic brains from the student community.

The various activities of PRODDEC during this academic year included familiarization classes, project assistance to students etc.

PRODDEC conducted various classes and workshops for the students to improve their practical knowledge and skills.

The computer hardware familiarization workshop was conducted on 19-02-08 for the first semester students. It included a presentation about the hardware components and a hands-on session for the students to familiarize the hardware components.

An electronic component familiarization class and workshop was conducted for the first semester students on 24-03-08.  It included a presentation about the electronic components and a hands-on session for the students to familiarize them.

PRODDEC conducted a series of classes on the C programming language particularly oriented towards the students of the first semester and third semester. The classes were guided by the students from the fifth semester.

A series of workshops and classes on web technologies and web designing was conducted from 1-09-09 to 04-09-09 for the first and third semester students. A team of students were selected from the two batches for the college website committee.

To improve the practical skills of the students, PRODDEC conducted a series of workshops on PCB designing and soldering.  Students from the fourth semester attended the classes.

PRODDEC provided full technical support for the various events conducted in the college. The members were instrumental in ensuring the technical outlook of the various co-curricular activities of the college.

The centralized registration software for the sports meet was developed and used for the first time during the sports meet 2009. The new version of the software is currently under development and the full fledged system is expected to be used this year onwards.

For the first time in the history of CEC, the registration for the arts festival was made online. PRODDEC developed the website for the same.

The college witnessed peak of technical activities during SUMMIT 09, the technical festival organized by our college. PRODDEC participated actively in providing the technical support during SUMMIT 09.

The project expo conducted in the college as a part of SUMMIT 09, was organized by PRODDEC. PRODDEC conducted a project programme for two months prior to the event to develop the exhibits needed for the expo.  As part of SUMMIT 09, PRODDEC developed the website for the event, the software for event administration, software for conducting the online event and the prelims of various events like c debugging, web designing and linux guru. It is a proud aspect that the event administration software developed for SUMMIT 09 has been used in two other similar events in different engineering colleges in Kerala after SUMMIT.

PRODDEC developed the digital scoreboard for Campion 09, Intra IHRD football tournament organized by our college. The website for the event and the system for the inauguration of Campion were developed by PRODDEC.

This academic year was for sure, a period of resurrection for PRODDEC. Let us hope that the strive for technical excellence remain un faded in the minds of the students.
